Xplornet Enters into an Agreement with Loral to Provide New High Throughput Satellite Capacity in Canada in 2011

On January 7th, 2010 Xplornet announced its agreement with Loral Space Communications Inc. to lease up to 100% of its Ka-band capacity on the ViaSat-1 satellite which is currently under development. The terms of the agreement are to last the entire life duration of the satellite delivering a high throughput experience of 15 Gpbs to Xplornet users. The ViaSat-1 satellite is set to be launched in early 2011 with innovative high-capacity Ka-band transponders and spot beam design providing Xplornet with cutting edge next-gen infrastructure to its existing satellite network. The new technology will enhance Xplornet’s current satellite capabilities and bring an improved customer experience.
