This new satellite, combined with the scheduled launch of the ViaSat-2 satellite on June 1, 2017, will triple Xplornet’s current satellite Internet capacity. Quick Facts:

The ViaSat-2 satellite was launched aboard an Arianespace Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle from the Guiana Space Center, Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.
ViaSat-2 weighed 6418 kilograms (14,149 pounds) at launch, with solar panels spanning 158 feet. The satellite will take several months to reach geostationary orbit, located 35,785 kilometres above the equator.
Xplornet expects the ViaSat-2 satellite service to be available to customers in the first quarter of 2018.
