Earlier this year Barrett Xplore was selected by the City of Ottawa, after a rigorous competitive bidding process, to be the City's P3 partner to provide broadband coverage in regions of rural Ottawa where high-speed Internet service was previously unavailable. These areas are known as the "gap" regions. Since our agreement with the City was signed on June 14^th, 2007, we have been working hard to build the infrastructure to deliver our dual technology broadband solution to the gap regions. Dual technology is a total rural broadband solution that only Xplornet offers, delivering 100% coverage - via our fixed wireless and satellite services.

As of November 1^st, Xplornet's base fixed wireless network build was completed, with all transmission towers live and broadcasting. Rural Ottawa residents now have the broadband accessibility they've been waiting for!

Over the next few months, Xplornet is committed to working with the City to assess our base fixed wireless network to determine if additional coverage is required. In those instances where customers cannot currently access our fixed wireless service, Xplornet representatives will be pleased to offer our satellite broadband service. If our fixed wireless service becomes available in these areas at a later date, Xplornet will install the new fixed wireless service and remove the satellite service at no additional cost to you. Special pricing on our satellite service has been negotiated specifically for Ottawa residents inside the City limits. Ottawa area residents outside the City limits will be offered a satellite solution at Xplornet's regular savings rate - still the most affordable satellite broadband solution in Canada!
