For the past eight years, Barrett Corporation and Barrett Xplore
has sponsored and hosted the Turnaround Achievement Awards in New
Brunswick's School District 14. The Turnaround Achievement
Awards recognize students from each school who have shown the most
effort, perseverance and commitment in turning around his or her
life. This award addresses the true objective of
education: helping children in need change their lives so
they can lead and enjoy a prosperous future. It gives "at-risk"
students something to strive for and an opportunity for recognition
they might not otherwise receive. It also recognizes
education's unsung heroes -the teachers who spend the time and
effort to work with at-risk youth.
Each May, 28 to 33 award winners are honored at a dinner with
their guests, family, friends, school officials, government and
members of the business community.
